Three-body resonant radiative capture reactions in astrophysics
We develop the formalism based on the S-matrix for 3 → 3 scattering to derive the direct three-body resonant radiative capture reaction rate. Within this formalism the states, which decay only/predominantly directly into three-body continuum, should also be included in the capture rate calculations. Basing on the derivation, as well as on the modern experimental data and theoretical calculation...
متن کاملStudy of Radiative Capture Reactions in the Astrophysical P-process
The cross sections of 70 Ge(;) 74 Se and 144 Sm(;) 148 Gd reactions have been measured over the bombarding energy ranges of 5.05 MeV<E <7.80 MeV and 10.5 MeV<E <13.4 MeV, respectively. The results are compared to statistical model calculations. The importance of further reaction studies is emphasized.
متن کاملDOUBLY RADIATIVE np CAPTURE ? Ronald
We have calculated the cross section for n+p --c d +2y. This process depends critically on the same matrix element that gives the amplitude for singly radiative np capture from the continuum 3 S state. It has been suggested that 1’anomalous17 transitions from this continuum 3S state may explain a long-standing discrepancy in np capture ((T =334.2*.5 mb and 0 exp th = 309.5 % 5 mb) by contributi...
متن کاملRadiative ionization: The link between radiative electron capture and bremsstrahlung
This chapter is devoted to the theory of radiative ionization of target atoms in energetic collisions with highly stripped projectiles. It is set into context with the simultaneously occurring processes of nonradiative electron capture to continuum and radiative capture to bound projectile eigenstates. Among other processes linked by inverse kinematics, particular emphasis is laid on the relati...
متن کاملNatural aerosol direct and indirect radiative effects
[1] Natural aerosol plays a significant role in the Earth’s system due to its ability to alter the radiative balance of the Earth. Here we use a global aerosol microphysics model together with a radiative transfer model to estimate radiative effects for five natural aerosol sources in the present-day atmosphere: dimethyl sulfide (DMS), sea-salt, volcanoes, monoterpenes, and wildfires. We calcul...
